Hillary Procknow, Faculty Advisor, TeamUP

Hillary Procknow is the Texas Success Initiative (TSI) Program Coordinator at The University of Texas at Austin where she also teaches Integrated Reading and Writing and serves on the University’s Council to Improve Undergraduate Writing. She taught the history and theory of US education as well as college study skills for several years at Louisiana State University. During her time in Baton Rouge, she earned a PhD in Curriculum and Instruction, with a focus in the philosophy of education.

Hillary also earned a master’s degree in architectural studies from UT, exposing her to the importance of visual literacy, the ability to extract meaning from images. Her IRW courses are an amalgam of critical thinking, interesting tangents, and joyful explorations, including an extended thematic unit incorporating visual components.
