Eddie Singleton

Edgar Singleton directs the First-Year Writing Program at The Ohio State University. His career as a teacher of writing began in 1984 when he was himself a GTA in the graduate program at Ohio State. Since that time, he completed his PhD in Victorian literature, served six years as the Grants Manager of the Columbus Symphony Orchestra, and returned to the academy, ultimately directing the composition program. All the while, he has been teaching, writing, and strongly engaged in advocating for the role of writing in the lives of students before, during, and after their time at the university. In the past year, he has introduced an element of multi-modal composition into the writing curriculum at Ohio State and is in the process of continuing its development in partnership with the many GTAs who teach the course.
