Kina Lara

Kina Lara is an Integrated Reading and Writing professor at San Jacinto College South in Houston, Texas, where she has been teaching since 2004. During her time at San Jac, Kina has taught developmental reading and writing, ESOL, freshman composition, integrated reading and writing, and student success courses. Prior to that, she taught high school English, speech, and journalism at River Oaks Academy in Houston. She received her BA from Stephen F. Austin State University in English and Sociology and her MA in Literature from the University of Houston-Clear Lake. Kina has been in education for over ten years, but most recently, she has worked extensively on course redesign in Texas by serving on the Developmental Education Demonstration Project Grant Committee, the Texas Education Initiative Reading and Writing Leadership Team, and the Texas Association of Community Colleges House Bill 5 Taskforce.
