Bill Peirce

William Peirce retired from Prince George's Community College in Maryland after 43 years of teaching and continues to present faculty development workshops on strategies for teaching critical thinking. At PGCC he taught writing courses (first-year composition, honors composition, business writing, and argument and persuasion) and literature courses (world literature, British literature, and science fiction). He also served as writing department chair for 12 years. His writing experience comprises workplace and academic writing. It includes five years of writing letters, speeches, and informative pieces as a writer and editor at the Census Bureau, hundreds of reports and memos as a faculty member and department chair, three scholarly articles of literary criticism, a chapter in a book on distance learning, and a textbook for an online course in critical reading and thinking.
