Lucy MacDonald

Lucy MacDonald began her teaching career at the community college, where she taught Freshman Composition classes, all levels of Reading classes, Vocabulary Development and Study Strategies. Her online Freshman Composition class in 1992 BW (before the web) was the topic of a PhD dissertation on the developing of a virtual classroom. Her web based study strategies online class grew out of user research based on what works for developmental education students. She created a web site of resources on study strategies and writing strategies for the discipline areas. This site which encourages students to write reviews of the resources has grown into a global network. http://www.howtostudy.org

She co-authored Tech Talk in the Journal of Developmental Education for over 10 years. Her commitment to faculty development continues with training at TIDE – Technology Institute for Developmental Educators at Texas State, San Marcos.
