Carol Kanar

Carol Kanar holds an M.A. in English from the University of Florida and an M.Ed. in Reading from Rollins College. Kanar is a writer and an educator with more than 30 years’ experience in teaching, first as a secondary school teacher, then for 19 years as Professor of Communications at Valencia College in Orlando, Florida. Through the Office of Academic Technology at University of Florida, Kanar served as a reader/scorer of the College Level Academic Skills Test Essay from 1979 until 2009. Kanar has served on the Board of Trustees at Husson University in Bangor, Maine since 2004 and currently holds the office of Vice Chair. She is the author of several Cengage Learning/Wadsworth textbooks, including The Confident Writer, 5e; The Reader’s Corner, 4e; and The Confident Student, 8e. Kanar is a long-time member of NADE (National Association of Developmental Education), and Lake County Florida Women for Hospice.
