Rick Dollieslager, TeamUP Faculty Advisor

Rick Dollieslager has been teaching college students for thirty years at universities and community colleges in the Midwest and Mid-Atlantic regions. With a background in English Education, he teaches pre-college-level reading and writing, college composition, college study skills, and occasionally technical writing and journalism. Rick was Chair of the Virginia Community College System’s Tidewater Region Center for Teaching excellence from 2001-2011. In that position, he sponsored professional development events and activities and made scores of presentations on his research interests, including teaching developmental students, active teaching and learning strategies, teaching student success and responsibility, Cooperative Learning and collaborative learning, brain development during learning, and teaching reading and writing together. Rick currently teaches at Thomas Nelson Community College in Hampton, Virginia, where he has taught since 1992.
