Jessica Utts

Jessica Utts is Professor and Chair of the Department of Statistics at the University of California, Irvine. She has authored two successful statistics textbooks: Seeing Through Statistics and Mind On Statistics (with Robert Heckard) and is a strong advocate for reforming the teaching of general introductory statistics courses to focus on statistical literacy. She has received two teaching awards and has been the keynote speaker at multiple international conferences on Statistics Education. Her other major research area is the use of statistics in parapsychology, which has led to numerous appearances on television, including Larry King Live, ABC Nightline and CNN Morning News. She is a Fellow of the American Statistical Association, the Institute of Mathematical Statistics, the American Association for the Advancement of Science, and the Association for Psychological Science.
