John Dunaway

John Dunaway has diversified experiences in public school teaching and community college instruction. After earning his Master’s Degree in Education Technology at Mid-America Nazarene University, he created a series of interactive video podcasts for non-math teachers to facilitate active math lessons with struggling students. He designed district in-services for using SMART Technology to make math lessons visual, interactive, creative and exciting. His technology in-service sessions became so popular he was rewarded with a Kansas State Teacher of the Year nomination in 2009-10. Currently working as an adjunct professor at Johnson County Community College in Overland Park, Kansas, he is passionate about engaging developmental math students through humorous, hands-on and active learning strategies. He believes teachers can engage active learning in the classroom without changing who they are as an instructor.

John is a Faculty Advisor for TeamUP.
