Jay Lewenstein

Jay Lewenstein lives in Mexicali, Mexico, and teaches community college English on the U.S. side of the border.  He’s a marathon runner, and each morning he runs along the canals and fences that separate the two countries, thinking about writing.   As a recent MFA graduate, his work has appeared in The Chariton Review, The Rambler, SNReview, and The Best of Creative Non-Fiction.  Currently, he is developing an anthology of short stories that reflect the spirit and culture of the border.

Jay believes Friends of the Earth, his first attempt at online publication, motivates students to further develop and refine their work to reach higher standards and a larger audience.
