Harry Phillips

Harry Phillips received his Ph.D. from Washington State University in 1994. From 1994 to 2009 he was Instructor of English at Central Piedmont Community College in Charlotte, North Carolina, where he taught argumentative writing and a range of literature courses. Since retiring in 2009, he mediates regularly, is active with an energy watchdog group, and gardens obsessively. In an earlier career, he was Curator of Native Plants at the North Carolina Botanical Garden from 1975-86. He is the author of Growing and Propagating Wild Flowers (UNC Press, 1985). With Patricia Bostian he co-authored The Purposeful Argument: A Practical Guide, now in its second edition.
