Zola Gordy

Completing her master’s in literacy education and graduate assistant teaching college reading and study skills, Zola Gordy began her career with the University of Missouri-Kansas City’s Center for Academic Development. She supervised the campus academic support program and collaborated with area schools on program improvement efforts. There she helped to implement and assess Supplemental Instruction (SI) programs, training and evaluating staff and faculty at colleges and universities nationally.
     Zola continued her focus on school improvement and evaluation for Chapter 1/Title I programs in the Midwest and for Even Start Family Literacy for programs for the Bureau of Indian Affairs. These efforts supported best practices in teaching, learning, and assessment across grade levels and across the curriculum PreK-12.
In 1995 Zola joined the faculty at Kansas City’s Metropolitan Community College. As Retention Coordinator, she provided academic support across the curriculum, partnered with department coordinators and their faculty members concerning student development, instructional practices, assessment and evaluation.     [ Click for More ]
