Wright State University's WrightMath program was established to help motivated at-risk, under-represented minority freshmen complete their mathematics requirements to achieve their goals and academic success. Students attend cooperative learning and problem workshop sessions, as well as lectures and activities that focus on "freshman survival skills." We will describe the details of planning this program that has proven to be effective in making our students competitive with non-minority students in mathematics, as well as increasing their retention rates.
