After a brief introduction of the importance of research undergirding practice, description of "Ideas in Practice" articles, and definition of Action Research, group work will follow. Using a previously published "Ideas in Practice" article as a model, each group will develop a potential instructional intervention/action research project and summarize the idea for the full group. The session will conclude with discussion of how the projects could be the basis of a pilot study Ideas in Practice manuscript, and possibly a more extensive research study.
