November 18, 2014   11:00am - 1:00pm
Synced Audio / Video / Slides

Our culture has become highly dependent on images to convey information. Making meaning out of those images - whether they are on Facebook, in a magazine, or are historical images of past wars – is crucial to students’ abilities to understand the world. Incorporating visual literacy, the ability to make meaning of images, into Integrated Reading and Writing courses not only helps students understand the visual world, it can get students to become active readers, transferring the skills for “reading pictures” to reading texts. In this webinar, we will read several images and develop activities for incorporating images into IRW courses.
