After viewing videos in which students discuss the importance of grammar in their academic lives, Sandoval and Barkley will discuss research that (1) speaks to the need to challenge students and (2) argues the need to reintroduce grammar into the classroom in order to establish the underpinnings for vigorous writing and clear communication. Last, attendees will participate in a classroom activity designed to generate excitement and energy around the discussion of grammar and to help improve students' writing.
