This presentation will situate the integration of reading and writing as an opportunity for instructors to help students make meaning in and of their lives. Our first obligation to students is to ensure they develop their capacities to make sense of an overwhelming multitude of information, which studies show can be facilitated by the practice of integrating reading and writing. Furthermore, because students are eager to engage in challenging material that is relevant to their lives, we will focus on how this can be done with IRW.
