Successful people aren't born that way. They become successful by establishing the habit of doing things unsuccessful people don't like to do. The successful people don't always like these things themselves; they just get on and do them. We all know from experience that good habits are challenging to cultivate and bad habits are hard to break. This session will explore the topic of habits as they relate to first-year students' study skills. What are habits, how are they developed, how can we change counterproductive ones, and most importantly, how can we create productive new habits that stick? What are the habits and attitudes that contribute most to college success? Students who know and practice the "secret formula" are much more likely to persist and succeed. Come join this lively discussion - explore, contribute, and learn.
