You may have noticed that your idea for learning is not the same as your student’s idea of learning. What is learning and how do you get students to buy into real learning? Are learning styles a myth? Some research screams a resounding yes, yet brain researchers say to aid in optimal learning students should use their preferred learning styles for receiving new information, for processing new information, and for responding to that information. The bottom line is that we want our student to move from being receivers of knowledge to producers for knowledge. How can we do that in our classrooms? Come join this preconference workshop to explore some of the issues of learning styles and learning.
