Ever heard this? “I’m just not a math-minded person, my brain doesn’t work like that” OR “I’ve never done well in math, I just don’t get it.” Being good at math, or at least functionally proficient, is not a matter of some fixed intellectual capacity or pre-determined innate ability, but rather is based on one’s interest to learn math. This interactive session is aimed at exploring ways of piquing students’ interest in “learning” math. Participants will go home with ready-to-use strategies designed to get students hooked on learning math for college, career and beyond.
