This session focuses on developing strategies for engaging first-time learners to want to learn and succeed in college. After exploring metaphors for teaching and characteristics of the diverse members of the class of 20I5, I present a pedagogical framework for designing how best to help students become effective at self-assessment, develop academic success strategies, manage life’s challeges, and begin to build a vision for the future.
