The 2012 Cengage Learning TeamUP College Survival National Conference was held in Chicago, Illinois, for those who teach Student Success courses.  The theme of this conference was “Recipes for Success”.  Pre-conference presenters were Catherine Rains, Dave Ellis, and Christine Harrington.  The keynote presenter was Lynne Cox.  Other topics included using graphic organizers, using learning styles effectively, teaching an online course, incorporating active learning strategies in the classroom, using assessment in orientation courses, and customizing your textbook.

The 2012 Cengage Learning TeamUP Mathematics Conference was held in Atlanta, Georgia, for instructors of mathematics courses from two year and four year programs. Session topics included incorporating study skills, using video games to increases time on task and understanding, the reform of mathematics curriculum over 50 years, using active learning strategies in the math classroom, the relevance of trigonometry and algebra understand in the calculus course and strategies for transforming students into long line learners.  The sessions are valuable for current and prospective teachers of mathematics.

In celebration of the 15th anniversary of the publication of Dave Ellis’ Becoming a Master Student, the 2008 Cengage Learning’s National Conference was held in Honolulu, Hawaii, at the Turtle Bay Resort and Spa. In addition to the TeamUP consultants, several authors, Faculty Advisors, and instructors presented sessions for use in the student success classroom. Topics included incorporating technology into the classroom, building a creative online environment, and thinking critically.
