After graduating from The Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 1980, Dr. Giedt worked in a mixed practice in North Carolina. Upon Returning to Ohio she started her own general large animal practice where she provided medical, surgical and reproductive care to horses, cattle, sheep and goats at area farms. After many years of running her own practice, Dr. Giedt was invited to join Lake Erie College as an Assistant Professor of Equine Studies. Her focus was teaching Equine Health, Nutrition, Breeding, and Lameness. In 1993 Dr. Giedt returned to private practice to pursue a career at Equine Specialty Hospital, a renowned 24-hour emergency equine hospital located in Mantua, Ohio, which specializes in advanced medical and surgical care for horses. After two years of 24-7 equine practice, Dr. Giedt returned to Lake Erie College as an assistant professor. In 2002 she received tenure and promotion to Associate Professor. In 2006 Dr. Giedt was the recipient of the Excellence in Teaching Award at Lake Erie College. Dr. Giedt is involved with the Travel Abroad programs at Lake Erie College and has visited Sweden, France, The Netherlands, Scotland, Austria, Germany, Switzerland and China and Costa Rica with Lake Erie College Students. Vietnam is the focus of travel in 2009. Her private practice is limited to horses and she does occasional small animal relief work.
