Paul Nelson, North Carolina State University
Dr. Paul V. Nelson earned the B.S., M. S., and Ph.D. degrees in horticulture at the University of Massachusetts, Pennsylvania State University, and Cornell University, respectively. He serves as a professor of horticulture at North Carolina State University with assignments for teaching plant nutrition along with research in soils and nutrition of greenhouse crops. Current research includes a.) establishment of a system for controlling root substrate pH and b.) identification of the signals causing sudden pH decline of substrate by crops, and c.) identification of symptoms and critical foliar analysis standards for nutrient disorders of several greenhouse crops. Paul is the author of the textbook, Greenhouse Operation and Management, now in its sixth edition, as well as an author to over 300 scientific and professional papers. He has been elected a Fellow of the Amer. Soc. for Hort. Sci. and has received the G. B. Gunlogson Medal from the Amer. Hort. Soc. for research, the Outstanding Graduate Educator Award from the Amer.

Marc Cathey Award.
