Dr. Royal Heins is a partner and President of Oro Farms, a vegetative cutting company with production facilities in Guatemala. He retired from the Horticulture Department at Michigan State University in 2004 as Distinguished Professor Emeritus after spending 25 years on the MSU faculty. Dr. Heins along with his graduate students was responsible for introduction of the DIF concept and graphical tracking to the floriculture industry as well as contributing to the better understanding of flowering, growth and development of a wide range of floricultural plants including poinsettia, Easter lilies, chrysanthemum, and hundreds of herbaceous and annual plant species. After retiring from MSU, Dr. Heins continues to remain active in the floriculture industry both as a consultant to greenhouse businesses and as an active partner in the selection, production, and sales of vegetative cuttings for Oro Farms.
