Tony Powers is the Owner and CEO of Medical Alternatives in Memphis, Tennessee, which now partners with the Baptist Memorial Healthcare Corporation. He is also a Professor of Clinical Pharmacy with the University of Tennessee College of Pharmacy where he teaches and trains pharmacy students in the area of home infusion pharmacy. Powers has been practicing in home infusion for the past 30 years, is a past president of the NHIA Board of Directors, and a recipient of the Gene Graves Lifetime Achievement Award. He received his bachelor’s in Pharmacy from the University of Tennessee in 1980, his doctor of Pharmacy in 1982, and completed a Clinical Pharmacy residency at the VA Medical Center in Memphis in 1983. He began working in home infusion in 1983 and founded Medical Alternatives in 1988.
