Uwe Klemradt

Uwe Klemradt graduated from RWTH Aachen University, Germany, in 1990 with a diploma in physics. Then he joined the Research Centre Juelich, where he studied the growth of semi-conductor films using synchrotron radiation from HASYLAB, DESY. After obtaining his PhD in 1994, he took on a position at Munich University as a postdoc and later as a group leader, working on phase transitions. In 1997/98 he was on leave at the University of Houston, Texas, being awarded a Feodor Lynen fellowship of the Alexander von Humboldt foundation. He received his habilitation from Munich University in 2002 and was appointed professor of experimental physics at RWTH Aachen University in the same year. His group investigates nanoscale structures and fluctuations, including thin films, nanoparti-cles, nanocomposites and ferroic materials by X-ray scattering and acoustic emission spec-troscopy.
