Billy Stanbery

Dr. Stanbery founded HelioVolt to develop and commercialize his innovative process for rapid reactive transfer synthesis (RTS) of CIGS thin-film PV that is now covered by dozens of issued patents globally. Dr. Stanbery's PV career began at Boeing and in 1990 the team he led achieved the world record in thin-film PV conversion efficiency using multi-junction technology, a record held for 17 years. Dr. Stanbery completed his Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering in 2001 at the University of Florida, obtained an M.S. in Physics from the University of Washington and B.S. in both Physics and Mathematics from the University of Texas. Dr. Stanbery's educational background in materials thermochemistry, surface and device physics, electronic carrier transport in disordered materials, as well as semiconductor processing has spanned silicon, III-V, organic, and CIS photovoltaics.
