Dierk Raabe

Dierk Raabe holds a Ph.D. and Habilitation from RWTH Aachen. After assignments at CMU and NHMFL he is now Chief Executive at the Max-Planck Institut in Dusseldorf and Professor at RWTH Aachen. He works on alloy design, processing, microstructure, and mechanical properties of alloys. He wrote some books, e.g. 'Computational Materials Science' and 'Continuum Scale Simulation of Engineering Materials', and >300 papers. He isinterested inusing quantum mechanics for alloy designand inatom probe tomography.He received the Leibniz-Award andan ERC advanced grant.Raabe is a member of the Science Advisory Board of the German Government, chairman of the Governors Board of RWTH Aachen, and member of the German Academy Leopolodina.
