Jeffery Aguiar

Jeffery Aguiar is a post-doctoral researcher at Los Alamos National Laboratory in the Material Science and Technology Division. He currently serves as materials researcher in the Energy Frontier Research Center with focus on studying the effects of ion irradiation at oxide interfaces. Aguiar's scientific interests has two themes: material design for materials under extreme conditions and functional properties. To study materials Aguiar utilizes aberration corrected microscopy at the atomic scale to unravel the origins of material behavior and properties. Before his career as post-doctoral researcher, he was advised by Nigel Browning at the University of California Davis and his doctorate thesis is titled "Atomic Scale Characterization of Materials using Scanning Transmission Electron Microscopy." He serves as a reviewer for the Center for Integrated Nanotechnology at Sandia and Los Alamos National Laboratory, Journal of Nuclear Materials, and Scripta Materialia.
