Hongyou Fan

Hongyou Fan is a distinguished member of the technical staff at Sandia National Laboratories and a joint professor in the Department of Chemical and Biological Engineering at The University of New Mexico. He received a B.S. degree in 1990 with a chemistry major from Jilin University, China, an M.S. degree in 1995 from the Chinese Academy of Sciences in polymer chemistry and physics, and a Ph.D. degree in 2000 from The University of New Mexico in the field of nanoporous materials and composites. His current research focuses on the development of new synthesis methods and self-assembly processes to fabricate multifunctional nanomaterials for applications in nanoelectronics, photonics and energy storage. Major honors and awards include Sandia National Laboratories Laboratory Directed Research and Development Award for Excellence (2007), R&D Magazine R&D 100 Award (2007 & 2010), the Federal Laboratory Consortium Outstanding Technology Development Award (2008 & 2013), The University of New Mexico Outstanding Faculty Mentor Award (2005), and the Asian American Engineer of the Year Award (2012).     [ Click for More ]
