QQ7.07 - Organic Topological Insulators in Organometallic Lattices

Topological insulators (TI) are a new class of materials exhibiting unique quantum transport properties with potential applications in spintronics and quantum computing. To date, all of the experimentally confirmed TIs are inorganic materials. In this talk, I will present our recent theoretical studies of the two-dimensional organic TIs made by assembling organometallic compounds with strong spin-orbit coupling into hexagonal and kagome lattices. The realization of quantum anomalous Hall effect in magnetic organic TIs in both Dirac band and flat Chen band will also be discussed. We envision that organic topological materials will greatly broaden the scientific and technological impact of topological materials.
