OO9.08 - 3D Graphene and Related Materials

A variety of approaches have been used by our group to create ‘3D graphene’ and related materials such as ‘activated microwave-expanded graphite oxide’ that has trivalently bonded carbon in atom thick walls and exceptionally high specific surface areas. I will discuss the approaches used to make such materials, their structure, properties, and potential for application with a particular focus on electrical energy storage.(We appreciate prior support from the NSF and DOE.)
