Peter Finnerty, MA

Pete Finnerty is an assistant professor in the Counseling and Art therapy program, a licensed professional clinical counselor and supervisor (PCC-S), advocate, and consultant in Ohio. He received his B.A. in Psychology and Master's in Counseling (with emphasis in marriage and family therapy) from California State University-Fresno. As a clinician Pete has worked in private practice, college counseling centers, community agencies, crisis centers and inpatient behavioral health centers. These experiences allowed Pete to hone a holistic, systemic approach to counseling while developing unique nutritional and physical activity techniques for therapy borrowed from his other career as a certified personal trainer and yoga instructor. One particular specialty is utilizing affirmative therapies in clinical work and advocacy with lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer (LGBTQ) persons in counselingIn 2008 Pete moved to northeast Ohio to pursue his PhD in Counselor Education and Supervision from Kent State University and is currently finishing his dissertation.     [ Click for More ]
