Maia Niguel Moore, PhD

Dr. Maia Niguel Moore is a faculty in the graduate Counseling program at Missouri State University in Springfield, MO. She is a recent graduate who earned her Ph.D. in Counselor Education and Clinical Supervision at Southern Illinois University, Carbondale where she also saw clients from the community at the university’s clinical center and taught various courses such as Professional Seminar, Life Span and Development, Individual Practicum, and Group Counseling Practicum for over three years. Her dissertation was a qualitative inquiry that explored how Black men who were raised in single Black mother homes build romantic relationships with Black women. Dr. Moore is passionate about training multiculturally conscious counselors on how to utilize culturally safe and relevant interventions with clients of color. She is also passionate about exploring systemic issues related to race, power, and privilege in the classroom among counselors-in-training and in predominately Black, high crime, inner city communities.     [ Click for More ]
