Wayne Hankammer, MA

Wayne Hankammer is the current Suicide Prevention Program Manager for US Army Pacific Command at Fort Shafter, Hawaii. He is a retired US Air Force Security Forces Officer with service in the Pacific, Europe and the Mainland US. He is also a graduate of the US Army Infantry Office School in Ft. Benning, GA. He is a 2000 graduate from the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs with an MA in Counseling and Human Services. He interned and was subsequently hired by the Department of Veterans Affairs where he treated combat PTSD from 2000-2008. He has been a suicide prevention hotline worker, board member of the Suicide Prevention Partnership of the Pikes Peak Region, Kaiserslautern Military Community Crisis Support Team Co-Chair and writer on suicide. He helped form the first hotline in Colorado Springs and then in Germany supported units and families in the aftermath of a CT-43 (like 737) that crashed in Croatia in April of 1996. Last February he traveled to Korea to administer the Army STARRS survey to over 870 Soldiers.     [ Click for More ]
