Lindsey Marie Mitchell, MA

My name is Lindsey Mitchell. I earned a Doctoral Degree in the field of Counseling and defended my dissertation in November of 2014. My dissertation was entitled “Bereavement Experience of Female Military Spousal Suicide Survivors: Utilizing Lazarus’ Cognitive Stress Theory” and allowed me to continue my passion for grief and loss, specializing in working with the military community. While at GW, I worked with many faculty members to develop courses that involved unique learning opportunities, such as “Life Beyond War.” This course allowed student veterans and counseling students to come together to learn about each other’s cultures and communities. In 2010, I was President of Chi Sigma Iota, Rho Theta Chapter and was encouraged to continue learning about leadership and organizational development. I hope to continue to my research with veterans as well as take what I have learned at GW and gain employment at the university level.
