Karin Jordan, PhD

Dr. Karin Jordan is Professor and Director of the School of Counseling, and Interim Associate Dean of the College of Health Professions at the University of Akron. Her publications include 3 books, 45 chapters in refereed journals, and 18 book chapters. She has done more than 130 local, national, and international presentations. Dr. Jordan’s awards and recognitions include the Bronze Service Award from the President of the United States, the Humanitarian Award from the American Counseling Association – European Branch, the Human Rights Award from the Oregon Counseling Association, Fellow of the American Counseling Association, and the ACA’s Gilbert and Kathleen Wrenn Award for a Humanitarian and Caring Person. After the Southeast Asia tsunami, she worked with the Sri Lanka Ministry of Health to develop a trauma education program for Teacher Counselors (School Counselors), and served in Haiti in that capacity after their earthquake.
