Jennifer M. Foster, PhD

Dr. Jennifer Foster is an assistant professor at Western Michigan University in the department of counselor education and counseling psychology. Before joining WMU, Foster worked as a licensed mental health counselor as well as professional school counselor in the state of Florida. While working as a counselor, she also taught master’s level courses as an adjunct professor at the University of Central Florida and Palm Beach Atlantic University. Foster received her Ph.D. in counselor education from the University of Central Florida in May of 2011. Her dissertation, An Analysis of Trauma Narratives: Perceptions of Children on the Experience of Sexual Abuse, was awarded University of Central Florida’s College of Education Outstanding Dissertation Award. Foster is continuing her research in the area of childhood trauma. Her research on the sexual abuse of children has been featured in Counseling Today and a number of national and international peer reviewed journals. She was recently awarded the Mu Beta chapter of Chi Sigma Iota’s 2015 Outstanding Research award for research that is making a difference in the counseling profession.     [ Click for More ]
