Malik Henfield

Malik S. Henfield, Ph.D. is an Assistant Professor in the Counselor Education program at The University of Iowa in Iowa City, Iowa. He teaches courses in school counseling and gifted education in K – 12 educational settings. As a counselor educator, Dr. Henfield has published manuscripts on the status of African American students and counselors in elementary, secondary, and postsecondary settings. Also, his research agenda has focused primarily on personal, social, academic and career needs of African American students in K-12 and postsecondary educational settings, the underrepresentation of African American students in gifted and talented programs and advanced courses, & recruitment and retention of African American students in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) courses and careers.
