George McMahon, PhD

George McMahon is an Assistant Professor and Program Coordinator in the Counseling and Development Program at George Mason University. Dr. McMahon’s interests include school counseling, social justice, and group work. Most recently, Dr. McMahon has been working towards developing The Ecological Model of School Counseling. Dr. McMahon has published several journal articles and book chapters in the areas of professional school counseling, multicultural counseling, and group work. In addition, he continues to present regularly at state, regional, and national conferences. George has been a counselor educator for 7 years, focusing on preparing school counselors and working with doctoral students. In addition to teaching and research, George has worked collaboratively with several school districts in order to promote effective use of school counselors in order to help all students be successful. Dr. McMahon has also consulted with several groups and led trainings on various topics including multicultural competence, privilege, leadership, use of data in schools, developing effective school counseling programs, and teaming & collaboration.     [ Click for More ]
