James K. Matta, EdD

James K. Matta, Sr., Ed.D., LPC, NCC is an Associate Professor in the M.A. in Counseling Program at Geneva College and a Senior Research Principal at Pittsburgh Adolescent Alcohol Research Center, a part of Western Psychiatric Institute & Clinic, which is affiliated with University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. He has been involved in clinical research with adolescents and young adults for the past 20 years, with a primary focus on assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of mental health issues and substance use. A few years ago he was awarded funding from the National Institute of Health for a two year period to investigate effective treatment intervention strategies for adolescents and young adults identified with comorbid Substance Use Disorders and Major Depressive Disorder.
