Averting the Fiscal Cliff: Assessing the tax climate for Contractors after ATRA 2012 becomes law
January 10, 2013   3:00pm - 4:00pm
  Synced Audio / Video / Slides

Join Mel Schwarz and Todd Taggart of Grant Thornton as they follow up on their Tax Planning webcast of last December to explain the implications of just-enacted legislation – The American Taxpayer Relief Act of 2012. This Act is significant as much for what did not happen as for the changes that were enacted. Mel and Todd will explain, in plain language, how contractors will be impacted by ATRA and they will weave this together with changes already enacted as part of health care reform to describe a new and, in many cases, a more expensive tax environment for years beginning in 2013.

After This Session, You Will Be Able To:
  • Identify what’s actually in the new tax deal and how Congress and President Obama addressed all the unfinished tax issues;
  • Discuss what issues weren’t resolved by the fiscal cliff deal;
  • Explain how the new deal affects the prospects for 2013 tax legislation and tax reform.
