In this presentation, CFMA’s Chief Economic Advisor, Anirban Basu, will focus on the economy’s ongoing economic expansion and its sustainability. Special attention will be given to the performance of the construction industry, including key spending drivers and impediments. The presentation shall also focus broadly upon the global economy, the U.S. economy and various regions of the U.S. There shall also be substantial discussion of leading economic indicators and potential risks to the 2012 outlook, including distressed real estate sales, Europe and Middle East turmoil. The presentation will conclude with an economic outlook for 2012, much of which will be focused upon the U.S. nonresidential construction industry.

After this session, you will be able to:
 
  • Assess the ongoing improvement in economic conditions including the financial markets, the labor market, corporate profits, and business spending;
  • Identify variations in regional economic performance, especially with respect to the housing market and job creation;
  • Discuss the economic outlook for 2012 and known sources of risk.
