Cheryl Smith-Miller, PhD, RN-BC

Dr. Cheryl Smith-Miller has worked in a variety of clinical settings, including ICU and cardiac step-down, outpatient clinics, and school health. She earned her bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the University of Toledo in Ohio, and bachelor's and PhD degrees in nursing from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.  Cheryl’s research has included diabetes self-management among Spanish-speaking Latinos, nursing education in the clinical setting, and cultural competency.  Today's presentation shares the findings from her most recent work, exploring work-related fatigue. During her work history, Cheryl has worked 8- and 12-hour shifts on day, afternoon, or night schedules and, during one stint she "stayed until the trucks stopped coming".
