Philip Sloane, MD, MPH, is the Elizabeth and Oscar Goodwin Distinguished Professor of Family Medicine at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. His broad background in clinical service and health services research includes a focus on Alzheimer's disease and long-term care. His research has included studies of medical care in assisted living and nursing homes, drug prescribing, falls prevention, management of behavioral symptoms in dementia, tub design and bathing outcomes, community-based alternatives to nursing home care.
