Steven M. Handler, MD, MS

Steven M. Handler, MD, MS, CMD is an Assistant Professor in the Division of Geriatric Medicine at the University of Pittsburgh who specializes in patient safety research in the nursing home setting. His research interests include the application of geriatric medicine and biomedical informatics tools and techniques to improve the medication safety of older adults. Dr. Handler has a Multidisciplinary Clinical Research Scholar Career Development Award (KL2) as well as a Merck/American Federation for Aging Research (AFAR) Junior Investigator Award in Geriatric Clinical Pharmacology to develop and test a clinical event monitor (a type of automated decision support system) to detect adverse drug reactions in the long-term care setting.
