Carmela Smith, MS

Carmela Smith, MS is an Epidemiologist and was one of the New Mexico representatives for the CDC project piloting an NQF reporting measure on healthcare personnel influenza immunization rates. She was tasked with recruiting the healthcare facility participants in NM who volunteered to pilot the NQF measure. She has coordinated recruitment, training, survey collection, validation interviews, and NHSN beta-testing efforts with the NM participants and has served as their primary contact. Previously, Carmela worked as an Influenza Epidemiologist for NM Department of Health’s Infectious Disease Epidemiology Bureau.
