Alva S. Baker, MD, CMD is a certified geriatrician who has been a Medical Director since 1980. He served as Vice President for Health and Wellness Services for EMA until his retirement in 2009. He also was the Executive Director of The Copper Ridge Institute, and he continues to work extensively in the areas of research and education about care practices for persons with Alzheimer's disease and other cognitive-impairing illnesses. He is a member of the faculty of the Division of Geriatric Psychiatry and Neuropsychiatry of the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. He also serves on the Gerontology faculty at McDaniel College, where he holds the position of Director of The Center for the Study of Aging.
