Each year, the Program Committee works to formulate a program that provides cutting-edge, evidence-based, unbiased education relevant to the spectrum of professionals in the LTC setting.

INTRODUCTION TO AMDA’S ONLINE LIBRARY
AMDA's Education Committee recognizes the importance of delivering CME in various formats, and the value of providing distance learning opportunities through enduring materials for self-study.

AMDA’s Online Library CME Program is the best online education in long term care and this year, as a value-added benefit, this introductory CME Program is offered at no cost to 2008 Annual Symposium attendees. And, uniquely in 2008, non-attendees also receive free CME included in the fee to access to AMDA’s Online Library. CME and CMD information is available by clicking on each individual session.

The CME/CMD activities featured here are brought to you by leaders in long term care medicine presenting the latest information, trends, and topics from across the long term care continuum. Many sessions are appropriate for the interdisciplinary care team. The target audience for AMDA’s Online Library CME Program is any and all long term care health or management professionals dedicated to improving the systems of care, and the quality of care of long term care residents. This includes, but is not limited to the following: medical director; attending physician; nurses (NP, DON…); administrator and consultant pharmacist.

PURPOSE
Globally, AMDA strives to offer CME that imparts knowledge, skills or information that allow learners to see improvements in their competency for:

• Communication between members of the interdisciplinary team (IDT).
• Quality assurance practices leading to better health outcomes and compliance with regulatory guidelines for optimal facility surveys.
• Clinical knowledge of the unique requirements of the frail elderly in long term care.

TO CLAIM CREDIT
Please complete the full online, post-activity assessment. Online, you will be presented with a downloadable, printable certificate for your records. Your credit hours will be recorded on your AMDA transcript. Participants may only claim credit for the content of a session once. If you attended the session live, you may not claim credit again for the online activity.

ACCREDITATION STATEMENT
The American Medical Directors Association is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education to provide continuing medical education for physicians.

Instructions for Course Participation

• Review the materials on Terms of Use and Disclaimer statements, accreditation information, target audience, learning objectives, and disclosure information
• Complete the entire self-study activity (viewing the PowerPoint presentation and listen to the audio recording in its entirety)
• Complete and submit the self-assessment and evaluation/CME claim form
• Print out CME certificate
• The online library awards credits for sessions ranging from 1 to 3 hours. Each activity should take you approximately the number of hours to complete as credits which are awarded for that activity, (e.g. for 1.5 credit hours awarded, the completion of the activity should take approximately 1.5 hours to complete.)
